Connection device between a dental device and its anchor.
The invention relates to a connection device between a dental apparatus, such as an expander, and its anchorage to dental pieces, usually to molars or premolars.
This device comprises a connector that in turn comprises a suitable channel for housing inside the holding wire or branch of the dental apparatus.
This wire, which we will refer to as a branch, will act as an axis on which the connector will pivot and, therefore, the anchorage to the dental pieces.
In this way this connector allows the articulated joint between the expanders, usually of the type of fixed jack, and their anchors in fixed orthodontic appliances.
The present invention is framed in the dental sector, more specifically in that related to orthodontics.
BACKGROUND
Currently, when there is a transverse bone deficiency of the upper jaw with respect to the face, the most widespread solution is to perform a skeletal expansion to widen it.
The expansion force is usually applied by means of a fixed jack mechanism anchored to some upper teeth (usually molars and premolars) by means of clamps to which the fixed cat mechanism is welded.
These clamps completely embrace the parts to which they are fixed.
Some of these more generalized devices are:
- The Hyrax expander, with metal frame and jack.
- The Haas type expander with resin flanges that contact the mucosa.
- The Minn expander, which incorporates a spring to soften the application of force.
- The Mc Namara with the peculiarity that the anchoring device to the teeth are not the bands but some resin blocks.
Also in the lower jaw this type of apparatus is used to produce expansion.
Usually the union between the cat system (Hyrax, Haas ...) and the teeth has been through metal clamps to which the device is welded by welding silver or laser, the most widespread being silver .
This method converts these devices into a rigid block at the time of placing it in the mouth causing serious problems when introducing it to install it in its position, especially in cases with divergent molars.

This leads to having to give undesirable solutions such as putting larger clamps that require, for adjustment, to use filler material on the molar pieces. This solution brings inconveniences such as gingivitis, continuous decreases and fractures due to improper adjustment of the clamps.
This welding anchoring system also generates other problems and thus, for example, damages the clamps, because when heated, they become weaker, making it easier for a new fracture.
Although in the treatments with these devices, what is sought is skeletal and non-dental expansion, the truth is that in practice there is also dental movement, the result being a combination of both skeletal and dental movement.
With the system so far used, of a rigid union between the branches and the anchoring clamps, the unwanted dental movement generates other inconveniences since when a tooth overturns during the expansion, the clamps or the resin do not adapt to This new inclination producing decreases and fractures.
Another common problem is that of desoldering because, due to the forces to which the branch and the clamps are subjected, and being this rigid union, it tends to break, requiring new welds that take time from the workshop and weaken the structure of the apparatus to the demand to heat the piece to be welded which, after several welding operations, weakens.
The defects of this current system that causes decreases and fractures of the union elements between the expanders and the teeth (clamps or resin) bring with it the problem of recurrence of the expansion performed, since, when, for example, a clamp is fractured the patient must be registered and sent to the laboratory, which means three to five days without a device and the consequent inconvenience of citation to the patient.
Another problem of the welding system most used today, silver welding in this type of device, is precisely the introduction of this metal in the body. So, although there is no record of the grams of silver that can be ingested with this device, the presence of this metal in our mouth does not seem very convenient.
On the other hand, the presence of different metals in the mouth (silver for welding in combination with other metals and alloys present in the jack or in the bands), can lead to problems of generation of magnetic fields.
It is very desirable to find a system that provides mobility brackets to adapt the devices easily even with divergent molars and in which it is easy to install and, also during the treatment, these clamps are adapted to the changing inclination of the anchor teeth
More preferably, a system is preferred in which it is not necessary to heat and therefore lose properties neither the circuit breaker, nor the anchor clamps, and in which no other added metal such as silver is to be applied.
For this, the present invention focuses on providing a solution to all these negative aspects of the current technique.
There are references to the existence of box systems to avoid the application of welding and therefore avoid losing properties to the wire and the band.

This box system does not allow the free rotation of the wire inside the band and for the introduction of the wire in the box, it is necessary to make a bend of the wire on itself, which is the cause of many of the fractures.
Among the patent literature the closest document of the state of the art known is WO2010014518, which contains some matching technical elements, but applied to other types of oral devices whose function is to hold a traction wire, to produce the movement dental. That traction wire is in turn the clamp to the tooth which prevents a pivotal movement that is the essence of the proposed invention.
US2002106604 discloses a connection element between an orthodontic apparatus and dental pieces, said element being formed by a sheet-shaped surface that joins the tooth and whose opposite part has a retention element of the apparatus with a channel inside and a bulge, but in no case presents a pivotal joint to an anchor.
On the other hand, US2013034822 refers to a device for the connection of an orthodontic appliance to a mouthpiece, said device being a piece of laminar form whose anchoring element is a protuberance on its outer face without also showing the characteristic pivoting movement.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
To solve the exposed problems, it is required:
An articulated joint between dental devices, such as an expander, and anchors so that:
Its installation and adjustment is facilitated without the need to oversize the anchor clamps avoiding the need for fillings.
The position of the anchoring clamp in accordance with the position of the dental pieces before a variation of the inclination of these, avoiding dysfunctions or unwanted effects.
An easily removable union:
That it is easily replaceable in case of breakage without the need for laboratory repairs that not only delay treatment but may be counterproductive.
The invention is a connection device between a dental apparatus such as an expander and its anchoring clamp to the dental pieces being this mobile connection and, in particular, presenting a pivoting movement allowing, as a hinge, the movement of the anchor clamp with respect to the branch.
For this, the invention relates to a connection device between the dental apparatus and its anchor that is pivotal and comprises:
- Means to hug and retain the branch.
- Means for attaching to the anchor clamp

Where
The means for attaching to the anchoring clamp comprise a suitable base for attaching to the clamps. This base is attached to the clamps by any means that allows its permanent union.
The means for embracing and retaining the branch include:
A main channel connected to the base mentioned above, this channel being suitable for longitudinally accommodating the branch inside.
At least one zone of narrowing or complete closure of the mouth of said channel. In this area of narrowing the opening of the channel will be less than the diameter of the branch housed in such a way that it is retained inside the channel.
Optionally a mooring element such as a through hole or a protuberance such as a sphere.
To prevent the branch from exiting the main channel, it has at least one narrowing area where its mouth has an opening smaller than the diameter of the lodged branch avoiding accidental exit of it, or an area where the closing of the channel It is complete.
Since the execution in which the main channel has a complete closing zone generates greater difficulties, the description will focus on the execution in which the channel presents a narrowing zone without reaching the complete closing of the channel at any point.
This narrowing acts as a clipping allowing both the introduction and the extraction of the branch when the appropriate pressure is exerted but avoiding its accidental exit.
In addition, the device can comprise a groove in its support that runs parallel to the main channel and that facilitates the entry and exit of the branch in this channel.
To favor clipping, the end of the narrowing zone may have a preferably rounded profile.
In one possible embodiment, there is only one narrowing zone which enables both the pivoting movement on the axis defined by the branch and the pivoting movement on an axis defined perpendicular to the branch and perpendicular to the plane of the base of the device.
To ensure the attachment of the branch to the device, the device may optionally comprise tie elements.
Among the possible mooring elements we find bumps, notches or holes in the outer wall of the main channel.
The device object of the present, in addition to serving for the tasks of skeletal expansion, can also collaborate in the tasks of traction of the dental pieces and for this purpose a secondary channel is provided, on the outer face of the wall of the main channel, which runs parallel to this and suitable to accommodate the elastic elements that cause traction.

Additionally, to facilitate the tie-up of such elastic elements, a through tunnel is provided at the junction between the main channel and the support.
With this connection device, we turn the Hyrax, Haas ... circuit breaker into removable devices attached to the bands or resin in the case of the Mc Namara, where the bands or the resin are free to rotate towards the vestibular, palatine and even direction mesial or distal freely, thus solving the problem of the introduction of these devices in the mouth and also the adaptation of the position of the clamps to the changing inclination of the teeth.
Being able to introduce the branches of the Hyrax through the bottom of the canal with a simple clipping makes it very easy to make in the laboratory and its introduction into the patient's mouth by the orthodontist.
Being a standard element, if there is a fracture in the clamp that supports it or in the same, the repair can be performed in the clinic immediately by changing the fractured clamp to another of the same number with the built-in connection device, thus avoiding recurrence and more appointments with the patient.
This method, also used in the rest of the fixed-removable device, also provides movement to the clamps and less wear to the wire by avoiding bending on itself.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES

(13) suitable to accommodate the elastics that cause dental traction, as well as a through tunnel (14) that facilitates the mooring of the elastic elements referred to above, as well as a groove (15) parallel to the main channel that facilitates insertion operations and removal of the branch to the device.

DESCRIPTION OF A WAY TO CARRY OUT THE INVENTION
A way of carrying out the invention, which is not the only one and which has no limitation but merely explanatory effects, will be presented here.
The invention relates to a connection device between an orthodontic appliance and the clamps that will be the anchors thereof to the dental pieces.
The device comprises:
A support (7) that will be joined by its rear face to the clamp (4).
A main channel (8) on the front face of the support, suitable for housing and clamping, one of the branches (2) of the orthodontic apparatus.
Gripping elements (10) in this case notches in the outer wall (9) of the main channel.
The outer wall (9) said, has an extension (11) coinciding with the narrowing zone, being that in fact that extension is what generates such narrowing (12) of the main channel being that the opening of said narrowing zone is smaller to the diameter of the branch (2), thereby preventing the involuntary exit of the branch (2) from the main channel (8).
The device described further comprises a secondary channel (13) suitable to accommodate the elastic elements that generate traction of the dental pieces as well as a through tunnel (14) suitable to accommodate mooring elements of such elastic elements.
The support, on its front face has a groove (15) that facilitates the operations of inserting and removing the branch (2) from the main channel (8).
When the branch (2) is inserted in the main channel (8), the device acts as a hinge between the orthodontic apparatus (1) and the clamp (4) allowing this pivot, facilitating the installation operations of the clamps on the pieces Dental of the patient.
On the other hand, by incorporating the secondary channel, the same device allows its use as an element for dental traction.
Another advantage of the exposed device is that since it is a device that allows rotation on an axis, it also allows the control of the molar torque during all the phases of the treatment.
A device such as that described allows its easy accommodation in the patient's mouth by facilitating the adjustment of the clamps (4) to the dental pieces and, on the other hand, in case of breakage or if for any other reason the replacement of any part of the orthodontic apparatus, the separation of the clamps from the rest of the apparatus is performed simply by removing the branch (2) from the main channel (8).
